Hi Caraolyn
I'm in Adelaide. For about 8 years now I have been doing free research for anyone who wants information re their ancestors who came here in the 1800's. I saw your request re James Cole and the following is what I found:-

MARRIGE.

Charles Willis, of full age, son of George Willis married 4/10/77 to Elizabeth Coles, of full age, single, daugher of James Cole at St. James, Glenburn District Yankalilla reference book113 page 31.

There is no marriage here 1842-1915 for a James Jones, or Maxwell Alexander Christie. There are two marriages for a Carl Roeder, but neither of those marriages are for a wife Elizabeth Cole.

CHILD BORN TO JAMES COLE & SARAH nee HILL.

William born 14th November 1850 Norwood, District Adelaide ref b3 p126.

I suspect James & Mary were married before coming to South Australia, as there is definately no marriage record for them here in S.Aus.

In the 1877 South Australian Directory I found the following entry:-

James Cole, blacksmith of Kapunda.

I had a look at the I.G.I. before I went to the library and found the following:-

James Cole married 30th September 1838 at Riseley, Bedfor, England to Sarah Hill.

I hope this is of some help to you. Feel free to get back to me if there is something else you would like researched.

Regards
Heather
