I could never know true freedom because mine was never threatened

Now it has

I could never know true safety because mine was never shaken

Now it has

I could never know true helplessness because I was always capable.

Now I do

I could never be a true Patriot because it's never been needed

Now it is.

As we all feel chills shatter our very souls, knowing...thinking we are helpless, we need to take a step back. We are NOT helpless. As long as we can bake some cookies for a charitable bake sale. As long as we can condole a crying friend. As long as we can light a candel or say a prayer. As long as we can still smile, we are not helpless. Don't forget the latter. Though our dearest contry has been hit serverly, buildings will be rebuilt. Heros will be honored. Victims will be remembered. Don't hold back your tears. let them flow freely. Feel no embaressment, only honor that you knew the incredible people that have left us behind. Yet show your pride for your beautiful country. Just smile as sing your favorite American/Spiritual song (mine is Amazing Grace) and sing it, either with your friends, or by yourself.

In the midst of tragedy, one good thing has been born. We are coming together, puting aside or differences, and helping eachother. Be proud of your country, for in it's darkest hour, the light of hope is breaking through in the form of compasion and love.
