Subject: What is going on?

Hello I am in need of some advice/information. I am currently going through my awakeninganf for about 6 or 7 months I have had a vulture following me around. I have also had a vision of this beautiful bird. Could this bird be one of my totems? I know that different animals represent different teachings in our lives. I have read that the vulture represents change(if this is not correct please tell me) but what kind of change? How do I get the teaching from this animal? What am I supposed to do when i see him? He loves to suprise me. He always appears when I'm not looking for him.
I have felt that I've been connected to the animals. When I was a child (about 5 or 6) I had a crow land on my bicycle handle bars. The praying mantis was one of my playmates. I have also had a few paranormal experiences. I have 2 out-of-body experiences (once when I was 10 and once when I was 22) I have also heard and seen a couple of spirits. I have had a few psychic experiences too. My mother also has had paranormal experiences.
Could the fact that I am 3/4 Cherokee Indian be a contributing factor in what is happening to me? I am really at a loss over all this. Am I crazy or am I having a true spiritual experiece here. I welcome advice/information from all nations.
Also we went to the circus about a week ago and when they brought the lions and tigers out to perform It took every thing I had not to cry. I didn't have the same reaction to any of the other animals there. Although I did marvel at their beauty.
