Subject: Respectful Gala Dress

An odd question that requires some background…

My wife loves to sew, and one of her major ‘events’ will be hosted at the Smithsonian’s Museum of Native Americans next year. My wife loves to create unique gowns that highlight and Honor the theme of the events, and often spends months planning, drafting, finding appropriate materials and creating a gown for these events.

That said, we want some guidance on what would be appropriate wear for a high formal event for a married woman to wear. Dress for men will most likely be Tux’s, but possibly with some matching fabric on my vest to tie us together, but that comes later.

What should a woman of power, wisdom and energy wear when she is invited to such at gathering when she wants to honor the place, the assembled peoples and the spirits?
