Subject: new here and have questions

I have never been on a Native American message board before. There are several reason I came to this one. I have resently met a Mandan Indian online and we have been talking about Indian history. I have always been interested in Native history and have found out that I have Native blood on both parents sides. My mother and I have dark hair and eyes. However, my skin is not what I call dark at all. My Mandan friend,Wayne, said I am darker then I realize. I really know nothing about Native American but I thought they were accepted here now with very little problems. I have just been reading and I now know it isn't like I though. Maybe it is because I have always accepted it. I don't generally give skin color a second though. It is usually someone's attitude that causes me to dislike someone. Anyway, after meeting this man, I had been having trouble sleeping. We had been talking everynight for about a week and a half. I had just gotten off the phone with him and was trying to sleep when my radio went off air. I changed the station and realized it was playing music I would call Native. I drifted off easily while it played. I wasn't really asleep but I wasn't awake either. I started dreaming while I was still half awake. I saw men and women in Native dress. They were dancing in a circle around me and singing. I had never felt anything like it before. I asked my friend why I would have done that now. He said it was my Native heritage coming out but I am 27 and it never had come out before. Why now? Can anyone explain this to me? I also have another type of question that I feel ashamed to ask but I don't know and I figure the only way to find out is to show my ignorance and hope I am forgiven if I insult anyone. Do Natives have powers? I have always watched tv and read books. The books are usually romance books and there is usually an Elder who sees something happening in visions. Do people really do this? What kind of things can they see? I am very interested in Native history of ALL tribes. If anyone would like to talk to me about it or just to talk, feel free to email me or respond here.
