Subject: re: Louis Sockalexis

Hi all,
I'm a baseball fan, writer, and longtime admirer of Louis Sockalexis, the great 19th century Penobscot athlete. I first heard of him through the controversy over racial mascots. As an Asian-American, I'm familiar with racial stereotyping too in the media and Hollywood. I think the sooner the Cleveland Indians dump the Chief Wahoo mascot, the better, though it's not likely. He's too big a money-maker. But he does no honor to the memory of Sockalexis.
If you'd like to chat more about "Sock," come on over to my message board called "SockTalk: All Things Sockalexis."

Thanks, and hope to see you there!
