Subject: Speaker-Musician sought for Interfaith Event

Hello,

I am writing on behalf of the Unitarian Universalist
Musician's Network. We are in search of a
teacher-presenter of Native American Music.
Specifically we are seeking someone to:
1) talk about how Native American Music as it is in
American Indian Spiritual Traditions

2) to answer for us: Is it appropriate for those of
the Unitarian Univeralist Faith to use Native American
Music as part of our own spirituality. We realize
that this is a sensitive issue and do not want to be
guilty of cultural misappropriation.

3) to teach us music, preferrably vocal music--songs
that we can learn ( primarily we are choir directors
and choral musicians) ( I myself play the Native
Ameican Flute and have written a piece for drum, flute
and choir).

we will be putting on an Interfaith Music Festival
next year in August 2005 in which we would hope to be
able to include music of the Native American
tradition. We hope to bring a speaker-teacher to this
even to address and present Native American music

Any referrals you may be able to provide for us would
be greatly appreciated by our national organization.

Sincerely,
David Burrows
UUMN 2005 Conference Planning Committe
