I'm doing some searching as well...but maybe I can help you out with yours. :)

There were three major Native tribes in Latin America, and their descendants still exist. I'm sure that there are minor tribes as well, but I haven't studied them.

It would be really helpful if you could find out exactly where your ancestors come from, but I can tell you this: The Aztecs (and their ancestors) were from Mexico. The Mayas are from below that area: Guatemala, Belize, Chiapas (in southern Mexico...they still live there and revolted against the Mexican government around 1994.)

The Incas were concentrated in and around Peru. Most people who live in Latin America today have American Indian ancestry...exceptions would be in the very Southern parts (Argentina, etc.) where people are mostly of white Spanish descent.

Judging on the information you gave, I would focus on Incan or Mayan ancestry. Unfortunately, you may wind up having to translate documents from Spanish. Here: www.freetranslation.com

Good luck!

Fred
