Subject: Spirit guide or Totem

I am trying to find out a little more about Totems or spirit guides. Sometimes when I am driving and get a little turned around or lost, a black bird appears. I'm not sure if it's a crow or a raven but it always guides me to the the right road. One time I was away from home and needed to get to a hospital urgently and this bird helped me find my way there. I followed the bird because it seemed the right thing to do and it took me directly to the hospital. Is this bird my Totem?
