i bought a used rats tracking collar apro 3 years ago from a amish guy in indiana. i have really liked it very well.i contacked the company that sells rats collars. http://www.nitehunters.com/rats3.htm they sent me a 217-018 rats collar to try between diff collars. i have wildlife and jonhson collars. today i did my first trial with the collars. i have a wildlife TRX2000 tracking box. i set out a wildlife replacable battery collar. 2 jonhson collars and my old rats collar and the new rats collar and went for a drive.1 mile away i couldnt tell much diff in the tracking.2 miles away the new rats was still getting 10 on the meter signal and the old rats was about 8. the jonhsons and wildlife were on 8.i tryed them on top of hills and in the bottoms both. at the 4 mile mark i was still getting 2 on the new rats and the others i could hear the beep but couldnt get a reading on the signal meter i got up to over 6 miles and could hear the beep on the new rats and could hear a faint beep on the wildlife. now this was in rough hilly ground with timber.the rats collars are like the jonhson collars you have to send them in the get the battery replaced. i bought my used one 3 years ago and never had any problems with it.it looked very used when i bought it so i dont know how old it is. these rats collars weigh about 1/2 of what the jonhsons and wild life collars do, they would make great collars for field trail hunts. the weather was nasty today so i didnt stay out long but will compare these collars more and let you all know.
the company that sells rats collars is a small family company and have been good people to work with.
