The preliminary judges will select 10 of the 15 semifinalists (or 9, if the MUO picks 6), so it's important to inform ourselves with who's hands the fates of the delegates lies upon...

Judge: ROSALINA TRAN LYDSTER
Country: Vietnam
Comments: She is the co-designer for the official Miss Universe Crown. Perhaps she will be tempted to juice up the points for VIETNAM so she will be a step closer to wearing the crown of her origin, just like when Riyo got to wear the Japanese Mikomoto crown. This judge is a sponsor, so I am not sure how much she knows about what the MUO are looking for.

Judge: ADEL CHABBI
Country: France
Comments: He is a celebrity hairdresser and styled for major fashion and beauty magazines including French Vogue, Glamour, Elle and many more. So who has nice hair in the competition? I think VENEZUELA and KAZAKHSTAN have great hair. But since he is from the fashion realm, he may favor the edgy-glam icons like ALBANIA and KOSOVO or the ones with model-looks like CROATIA and ISRAEL. Will he also favor FRANCE? Looks like some European delegates will enjoy a push forward by this judge.

Judge: LEIGH ROSSINI
Country: USA (New York)
Comments: She is a high-profile publicist in the beauty industry. With a background in communications, indeed she will looking for contestants who can speak well under pressure in the interviews. Based on the close-ups, I personally think the best speakers are PANAMA, JAMAICA, INDIA, and of course USA.

Judge: DEAN McFLIKER
Country: USA
Comments: HE is the Vice President of NBC Primetime Special Projects, so he is looking to boost ratings! What boosts ratings besides falling contestants and interview blunders? I think it's beautiful, sexy women: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, MEXICO, BELGIUM, and pepper spray PUERTO RICO, who knows all about getting the press talking about her.

[More judges to be revealed later on.]

So what's the verdict Crystal had plastic surgery or not? I assumed so, until I saw former Miss Washington USA, Jamie Kern, on the Home Shopping Network selling her body makeup (www.itcosmetics.com) for pageant girls (shows them how to contour cleavage, leg definition, ab definition, lip stuff to make you look like you've had injections, etc.) Is Crystal naturally enhanced with these contouring techniques or has she been under the kninfe?? Your thoughts?

News from Vietnam…. I heard this morning from people who works on site in Nah Trang that everyone got really upset last night about Miss Venezuela being in the first and official car to open the parade together with Miss Vietnam. The delegates were really mad with Vietnam people making such an open choice like this. Everyone likes Miss Venezuela but this was perceived as unfair. Also it started from before the parade when Miss Venezuela was given a hat and nobody else received one, and also because her Aoi Dai was the most unique one from all.

I heard that Miss Vietnam is not cherished by the locals in Nah Trang because the country is separated in 2 parts, North and South and that she is from the other part, the North…. but she is a sweetheart, such a pity that things like that happen in the world.

This is the first time I heard, who can explain this?

"SHOULD" do well in the preliminaries:

Dominican Republic
USA
Venezuela
Panama
Colombia
Mexico
Trinidad & Tobago
South Africa
Puerto Rico

Picked by Trump:

Ukraine - he will always pick this country until Oleksandra forgives him about the mishap in 2004.
Belgium - token blond for Trump
Croatia - token blond for Trump
Vietnam - business is business, and she is decent
Kosovo - politics = ratings = money = Trump

Favorites who still to "BRING IT" in the preliminaries:

One of:
Norway
Australia
Russia
Japan
Korea

This will be the top 15 for now as the preliminary competition will CHANGE EVERYTHING! Any mistake a top contender makes means an extra spot in the semis for an underdog, everywhere like, such as Kazakhstan, Guam, Singapore, China, and Egypt.

From Global Beauties:

NOT ENOUGH AO DAIS?: During the contestant parade in Nha Trang, it was really odd to see a handful of contestants (40, half of them) wearing spectacular Ao Dais, waving from beautiful floats, while the remaining 40 contestants were packed in convertibles and smaller floats wearing t-shirts and shorts. What happened here?

As much as spectacular as the parade could have been, singling out a group of contestants for the 'deluxe' part of it, is a lack of respect to the remaining delegates. We hope that the committee considers this 'faux pas'. All contestants deserve equal treatment, and not just 'the favorites'.

The "Favorites" who got to wear Ao Dais:

Venezuela
Vietnam
Australia
Colombia
Ukraine
USA
Trinidad & Tobago
Puerto Rico
Dominican Republic
Czech Republic
Kazakhstan
Korea
Japan
Israel
China
Mexico

"Lower profile" candidates that wore Ai Dais:

Bahamas
Aruba
Angola
Bolivia
Canada
Estonia
Finland
