Subject: Season 3 Digivolving figure review...

Finally came up with enough money to buy all three of them (still can't find Omnimon). Quick review...

Growlmon to WarGrowlmon: I'll start with this one because it's the best of the bunch. Growlmon is nice with swivle articulation on the shoulders, below the elbows, hips, and ankles. All of the transformation is in the upper body. The Growlmon head splits to remeal the WarGrowlmon head under it and folds inside the body, the chest armor unfolds from inside along with a long whip like piece that hangs off the back. The middle claw nail comes off and flips around to make a grawping hand, the blades spins around, pulls out, and snaps to the back of the hand. That's about it, not much to it. Same articulation in both modes. Obvious problems include in WarGrowlmon mode the arms should be black and the blades should be different, other than that it's hard to screw up in both modes.

Kyubimon to Taomon: Not horible but could have been better. On Kyubimon the articulation is swivles on the shoulders, knees, and ankles of both sets of legs with joints on the front ankles, I guess you can count a few of the tails too and the ears. To Digivolve you flip Kyubimons head and front legs around back, pull the Taomon arms out of the tail and move it to the body, flip the Taomon head out of the body, straiten out the back legs and pull the pants out of another set of tails and snap them to the legs, then fold the tails up a bit, fold inthe flames, and unfold and snap downt he loincloth on the front, then you'r done, basicly. Taomons articulation is basicly ankles shoulders, neck, and ears if you count that. What I would have changed would to make the tails fold inside out to make the pants and arms for Taomon, that's about it but as is the tails are just way too much and detract a lot from the figure.

Gargomon to Rapidmon: Gargomon looks great from the front with Rapidmon's arms just hanging off his back. Articulation includes two joints in the ears, Ball joints in the shoulders, joints in the elbows and not really any usefull articulatin in the legs. to change you have to turn the figure around, fold Gargomon's arms into Rapidmon's backpack, place Rapidmon's arms into position back to the body, spin the legs around and unfold Gargomon's feet to become Rapidmon's legs, and spin Rapidmon's head around and into place. That's it, not much to it, a really easy change. A neat bonus is you can have the head pointed down to look like the Golden armor version of the same character (basicly this is just a green version of the golden character) or you can have the head up and reaveal a rabit face. On the down side you still basicly have Gargomon on the back of Rapidmon with Gargmons face and pants very visible. Very nice figure from the front but like a lot of the Digivolving figures not very believable from the back. Articulation is in the neck with a ball joint, ball jointed shoulders, upper arm swivle, elbow joints, some hip joints and if you want to count it knee and ankle joints. I'd love to see a gold variant made of it to go witht he Magnamon figure.

That's it, worth buying but don't expect any Transformer magic to be worked with these.
