This may just be conjecture, but, Japan is a society where women are still relegated to motherly roles....and as such, are very rarely seen as leadership material.....

as sad as that is, it's the truth.....however, the "Independent Woman" concept is creeping into Japanese society, which can be seen in Digimon through the character of Rika....

So, that may change, if we do, in fact, get more Digimon in the coming years....
