I'd guess that it works like it does in the show, during a battle you swipe one of the special cards and get the power of that card on your character. I might actually buy one since it sounds like a really cool gimick. Just a hunch but I bet if you swipe a blue card (assuming there are blue cards) you get to unlock that digimon to train. Just guesses really.
