 Hello everyone! I hope that everyone is enjoying the last leg of summertime!

I have some questions about moving into my new apartment. I will be moving in on August 27th, a week from this saturday. I had mentioned before the condition of the apartment, not to mention the negative energy that is so obviously present inside. I am interested in cleansing the space before we move our things in. I talked to my roomies about this, and they are all for it (they are also very spiritual and attuned to this sort of thing and could feel the "bad vibes!") Anyway, I purchased three mid-sized sage bundles and plan on burning them around the windows and doorways, but what else can I do for cleansing purposes?(Also, I read in the Witch's Almanac that leaving garlic out for the last three days of the waning moon will absorb bad energy, then sprinkling salt on it and disposing of it after the three days. Has anyone heard of this?)
I read the spell for the protection sachet in the herbal grimoire, but it called for a knife, which I do not have. Is there an adaptation I can use so I can still make the sachet for the apartment?
My second "order of business" is used books. I bought all my textbooks used online, as well as from a used bookstore local in my area. I want to get energy from the previous owners out before I begin using them. Last time I bought used books, I burned sage incense around them. But I'm wondering, what will the upcoming full moon offer in terms of cleansing, purifying energies? I am very very interested in any and all suggestions for this stuff! It is very important to me to have clean positive energy around me, especially in things that I'll be using all the time, like my living space and my textbooks.
