Hey WW -
boy do I EVER know what you're talking about. I've been having some periods from hell lately. I have the emotional/irritable symptoms AND really annoying physical symptoms which of course add to my irritability!

I know that for myself, lavender and chamomile, as well as peppermint, are very calming. I'm not sure if this is a universal thing or "just me" but they help calm and regulate me. You could brew a tea with these herbs or make a bath sachet or drop some oil into a bath or aromatherapy diffuser. I know that a hot bath with lavender oil and a cup of chamomile or peppermint tea works every time.

Also I know St. John's Wort is good for depression...one of my roommates uses it in a liquid form with good results. She drops a bit into her juice or the bottle of water she carries with her during the day. It seems to help. One caution though: St. John's Wort can interfere with certain hormonal birth control so consider using a backup method if this is an issue for you.

I hope some of this helps! It's just some things that I know have helped me a bit. I know that Dreemdanser knows a lot about herbs and their uses so hopefully she'll be around soon to give you some more advice :-)

Peace,
Scarlet
