I believe if you are teaching them the religion of "Wicca" then Deity comes first. Ethics,The Rede and the Law of Return,grounding,centering,shielding,balance,polarity,the elements should all come soon after. At the Prison I have to teach the basics on an extremely regular basis. Many men want to learn the magick end of it and I tell them I'm here to aid them in their spiritual growth, not teach them withcraft. If and When they are able to explain that entire list above to me and truly understand/grasp the religion,then and only then will I even think about teaching them magick.
Explain Wicca/Deity in detail and I'll explain spellwork.

Children are naturally drawn to spellwork, but there is nothing more damaging than a poorly thought out spell. Ripples,never forget the cosmic ripples.
