I am not sure that will power (which is what we typically blame for the not-in-our-best-interest choices we make) is what it is all about. There are definitely physical things that make us choose unhealthy choices of what to eat, there are also emotional and psychological things. Honestly the spellwork has to go hand in hand with some investigative and knowledgable 'homework' to eliminate the things that are keeping you overweight. Without doing that, the spells will be like doing a spell to stop a boat from sinking without fixing the leak or leaks in the boat. With fixing the leak or leaks AND the spellwork, you will be empowered to suceed.

On the physical side if you eliminate foods that create a physical reaction in your body to have certain cravings, then you will be way ahead of the game. Refined foods are the biggest culprits. All white flour and sugar are top of the list that will make you crave more....but there are a lot of sneaky terms on ingredients lists that are basically sugar or starch that most of us don't know we are eating. Basically anything in an ingregients list that says sucrose, glucose, corn (or any other) syrup, glutens, flours, and any other starches should be avoided. I am extremely sensitive to some things that other people are not. If you keep a food journal and pay attention to when you have cravings, what mood you were in, what you had previously eaten, what events had occrred, what point you are at in your cycle, etc. you can identify your own particular eating triggers. I can't even tollerate salty foods or breads containing yeast!

Now, the harder part is figuring out why you emotionally and psychologically sabotage your health and fitness. Many people who have been victimized/molested use being overweight as a sort of protection to surround themselves and to appear unattractive. For most of us who want to improve our physical bodies but who don't, there is some sort of 'pay-off' to remaining overweight or not at our best. Identifying that pay-off is not always easy. Certainly anything that we do to improve our self-esteem (including spellwork) will help. Do we truly and honestly believe we deserve to be in a healthy beautiful body? Can we do what is nesessary to give that to ourselves?

One thing that many people fear is that IF they lost the excess weight, and they worked on getting to their best physical slef, that then if they still didn't have love, or a good job, or an active social life, or success....or any number of other things that they desire.....then they would not have the excess wieght to blame and they are afraid of dealing with that possibility. Yes, I know...that is very very heavy stuff to think about. I can truly tell you that there are some things going on in my life right now that are the hardest/worst and most painful that I have ever had to face.....and I am at my best physical self than I have perhaps been at in more than 15 years. The things that are going on in my life that are truly awful have absolutely nothing to do with how healthy I am, or how I now look. They just don't factor in. Whether i was fat or thin with these situations and events would be irrelevant. However....If I was still overweight I would have that added misery and unhappiness on top of all these current awful things...AND...I would be less able to cope due to my compromised health. I might have even sufferred a heart attack or some other physical ailment due to the hideous stress I am currently under. Were I not absolutely committed to taking care of myself and telling myself over and over that I deserve to make my health a priority...I would no doubt have gained even more wieght during these tough times, turning to food for comfort. The other thing that using food as a drug to numb or our pain does is that we then avoid dealing with that pain and we absolutely make matters worse in the long-run. By allowing ourselves to feel our feelings instead of avoiding them we learn to take measures to improve our lives instead of just burying our heads in the sand and allowing anything negative in our lives to continue un-delt with. For example, an employee who is riddiculed by their boss and uses food to numb their feelings rather than feel the pain is less motivated to make the changes they need to make. But if they feel the pain and identify it (that is it is the boss who is at fault, not themselves) then they can say to themselves, "I desreve better" and take steps to go out and get another job! (just one example, of course)

So even though I am going through really really tough times, I am not compounding the current problems by also hurting myself, and I have given myself a body that is better able to handle the stress. By removing the overweight factor from my life it is not now added to the miseries I have to currently face. truly I don't know if I could live through the current trails if I were still in my unhealthy, overweight state!

Maybe determination is a better term than will power. If you determine that you deserve to treat yourself the best you possibly can in every way, then you will. With that conviction in place all you do in the mundane and magickally will have incredible power.

love and light,
Dreemy
