Amber Turned 18 in feb. of this year, and while not a member here, I belive this is a place to share this ray of light....As she has crossed over this week, and has a bright spirit.

Amber had many physical problems durring her life here, from the air hoses to the feeding tubes, wheelchairs and all. Yet, this did not get her down. She lived life to the fullest, and found ways to communicate with others. Getting past the speach probs with a special tool she types into and it speaks for her, she got to use the telephone for the first time at age 17. The first person she called was my daughter! IF she could not find a way arround something, she rose over it. Amber and my daughter were very close friends, went to school together, stood up for each other when bullies showed arround....just basic good friend stuff. She will be missed dearly.

As her health diminished, and what the outcome was going to be...there were long talks and plans being made over the past months. (which began when she was 17). She helped to pick out the pictures for the "Memory board" that was on display at the funeral home last night. And even a card to hand out to visitors was one SHE chose, with her last message to friends and family on it.

The card is a pict. of a waterfall in a wooded area, since she loves nature...and on the back is writing entitled "after glow". Wonderfully done up. The basic message is...she hopes that there is a warm after glow of happy memories remains long after her journey.

See, Her view is that passing over is not the end of all. It is just a transformation, it is moving onward with more to do, to be...It is only a change of season.

The funeral home was PACKED FULL, within that few hours, and many flowers were placed with her. Hardly anyone had known how many lives this girl had touched in a positive way. I remember the day my 5 yr old asked her to throw her a ball. Amber's nurse said she can't do that. Amber says "Can't isnt a word!" She procceded to take the ball and throw it for my daughter to catch. We cheered her on, while the nurse scoffed "see she can't do it." Ha! No one said it had to be perfect or go more than 2 feet! ANY distance is Fine! After three throwes she did do more distance, and better accuracy. It wanst how great a toss, but rather that she was asked, and did be a part of the game that mattered. This is how she lived her life, it was one of no regrets, refusing to sit on the sidelines.

My daughter has had a bit of a hard time with this, but is doing ok. She hand-picked a rose off of a rose bush for her, as it had more meaning than going and buying one. (this was agreed to by the two girls, on valintines day.) I also had gotten Amber's permission to post here, prior, incase anyone wonders about that.

Amber was a living example of how life is what you make it, regardless of the restraints/obsticals we percive, And a bright ray of hope even within the midnight hour.

Blessings,

Crystal
