Of course the concept is not only a sound one with merit but timely as well as grounded in spirituality. The concept of power in numbers is sound. The concept of unison work is sound. The concept of specifying that no names be used is a safe one and non-manipulative. The fact that the WOP say "our country" and not a specific country's name is also rather well-chosen since the WOP are adaptable to anyone in any nation using/saying them. (Whether or not someone thinks that the US or any other other world leader has influence of any significance more or less in the world at large is really of no matter...ask a 1000 different people around the world and get a 1000 different opinions.)
But here is what is irrelevant:
Those dates and times, for one thing. The reason why the dates don't matter so much is because it is not the same day around the world at the same time. It is not even the same season south of the equator. (they are not observing the same sabbots at the same time we are!) As for the times, the same is true since there are numerous time zones even just within the US, let alone, around the globe. Then you get into the fact that witches do not observe time the same way as the secular world in regards to ritual and spell work. For the witch or pagan practitioner, the times are similar to military time, not stopping at 12 but continuing up to 24. The difference between the way we count and the military however is that we begin counting the first hour at dawn....which not only changes every day, but obviously in every region it is different.
So the bottom line is that it is completely pointless to set certain hours for this type of unity work. What does have merrit is that if people from around the globe pool their efforts on this same focus and intent during this same general time period, then the unity work has the increased energy and power thrust into the universal energies at the same general time. If the organizers of this effort were to list all the various time zones and pick one actual point in time that they then translated into all the different time zones and dates then they might succeed in having SOME people practicing their spell at the same time. But, in truth, people will be busy and encumbered by their 'have to's' in life and they will do the spell when they are able...SOOOO....we would probably end up with about the same chances of people acting at the same actual in point in time by leaving it at this:
Whenever you observe Samhain, up through Nov. 2, pick a time or times that seem best/right for you to participate.
Also, adapting the WOP in any ways that seem right to the individual will not change the energy or intent provided no specific names, political parties, etc. are used. For example, I might be inclined to change the words to say, "Take evil from our world" rather than just " from our country".
Focus and intent, being of like mind and purpose, and doing the actual 'work' within the same general period of time is the essense of what is needed.
Love and light,
