Are you sure you haven't explained every option of a solo dress to your parents? Here's some ideas of mine...
1) Ask about a used one. Check online at dancinginceltic.com, patking.com, and celticdaighters.com for really good deals and pretty dresses.
2) See if there is a non-Irish dance dressmaker in your area who could do it for a lower price with a Simplicity design or an Irish Threads design. My friend Kara got hers done in one day for a GREAT price!
3) Check again with your school and make sure there aren't any for sale.
4) Look out for used dresses at feiseanna.
