Author: Orbital of the Council
Subject: Amazing

Orbital, still smiling slightly at Alex, stood now, and motioned for Alex to do the same. The young human did so, and the two began strolling through the park, completely unaware of their unknown observer. As with his previous ‘speech’, Orbital remained quiet for a few moments. Behind them, more and more Cybertronians had fallen to watching the young Maximal paint his picture. Now, however, the two newly acquainted Councilors would not be able to watch. Already, they were out of view...

Well, let’s backup a bit here, shall we? What have we already established? You tell me. What do we know about the Senate and the Council? Orbital remained quiet, waiting for his answer.

Alex wasn’t sure where to go with his answer. Of course he knew that what the Senate told everyone was a lie. Most people didn’t know it was, but he hadn’t lived his life learning how to stab people in the back for nothing. He could tell a scam when he saw it. Where Orbital was going with this, and why, he wasn’t sure. Alex decided to play it safe.

Well, the Senate has set the Council up, unofficially, to be the ‘third leg’ of the Cybertronian Government. The Senate is under the impression that everyone is fooled by this ordeal, that everyone believes the Council represents a unified Cybertron. What the Senate doesn’t know is that the Council is well aware of the fact that they have absolutely no power in the Government. Not officially, anyway. And now we’ve established that I’m a mysterious addition to the Council, and that the Council is...doing something behind the Senate’s back. That cover everything?

Orbital nodded. Yeah. That’s amazingly pretty accurate. One question. Since we’ve established the fact that the Senate has set up a false government body, one question is begged. Why? Why did the Senate do it?

Alex stopped for a moment, and thought about this. He actually had never pondered why the Senate had done this, he just accepted the fact that they had. Most scams had some way of making money, hitting it rich, making a profit of some sort. But now that he thought about it, these Senators were already rich. They had nothing to really gain from setting the Council up. At least, nothing material...Uhm...I can honestly say I haven’t the first idea. It baffles me to think about it now, actually. But, I guess I’m not here to tell you why. I’m here to listen. Right?

Orbital, without confirming Alex’s question, continued. The Senate isn’t exactly well liked. The public sees them as nothing but a group of power hungry Cybertronians who have no right helping the Chancellor lead Cybertron into a new age. Sadly, most of the public also realizes that the Chancellor and the Elders are reclusive nowadays. Have been since Megatron’s defeat. They just want nothing to do with leading Cybertron. They’re tired of fighting, tired of running. But, they have no choice. The public made them into heroes. The public made them into leaders. But, I’m straying from my point. The Chancellor and the Elders did, however, set the Senate up to ‘unofficially’ run things in their place. Follow me?

Alex nodded his head. So far, it made sense. The Chancellor didn’t want to run Cybertron, but had no choice. So, he set up a second leg of the Government, making sure that someone else could ‘officially’ do his work for him while he ‘unofficially’ retired. Quite brilliant, actually.

Orbital was now talking at a quicker pace, as if he were getting worked up over something. Anyway, back to the Senate. They, while they have done pretty good so far on rebuilding Cybertron, aren’t exactly well liked by the public. They are seen as greedy, self-serving, pompous, annoying old spark-less farts, quite frankly. Each and every one of them. Whether their personality matches that view or not, people still don’t like them. That was causing some major rifts for a while, and the Chancellor actually looked as if he may reassign the Senators.

That’s where we come in at. Trying to save their butts, the Senate convinces the Chancellor to let them go ahead with a third leg of the Government. A Council, with a representative of the major factions. Something set up to please the citizens, and get the focus off the Senate. They got their go-ahead. Chancellor Chi had no problem with it. So what do we have now?
Orbital glanced at Alex questionably...
