Subject: Hmm...
In reply to: Ayrist 's message, "*Violet eyes lower for a moment, then meet the Wolven's gaze*" on 18:53:51 08/13/02 Tue

"You ask much of an aging librarian, my child." The Wolven's voice and demeanor are soft, but a certain glint in her gold eyes suggests that her backbone has not weakened any. "Yes, we have a formidable enemy this time. They have no allies, but then Drakka have never needed them." Her gaze takes on a hazy, distant look, but Sake continues to speak. "I will tell you what I may, child. Listen well... I fear this information will be closed to my mind after I access it once." The ragged-furred and rather short biped moves slowly, lethargically over to a cushion and seats herself on it, folding her legs and letting her plumed tail go limp. Resting gnarled hands on her knees, she closes her eyes.

"I see destruction. The Drakka have destroyed many peoples who had the misfortune to be located near their home star. They have broken many contracts, and ruined peace wherever they could. They are physically, mentally, and technologically powerful. The Olashi people know that they are dangerous, and have added them to a standard repetoire of enemies, which young students are trained to fight against. The crashed Olashi, Jymae Nishifal... she has undergone training fighting these beasts. She knows all that the Olashi know... even more than most. Ask and she will tell. Cite the name Kashul."

Sake's voice dies off, and with an effort the Wolven resists the blackness that seems willing to swallow her mind up, if only she would relax her guard. Old age is getting to me...

"My child, you must tell Redwood. These Drakka are far more numerous and powerful than our previous enemies. They have no allies, and therefore no ties. Their ships are so heavily armored that even sophisticated Olashi weaponry cannot penetrate it. The Adochi are developing an antimatter weapon - this has worked so far, but it cannot be mass-produced. The Olashi cannot make this weapon at all."

Be gone, darkness!

"The alliance between the Adochi and Olashi races is firm, but layered with rules and regulations. Two individuals consistently break these - Olashi Yendan and Of the Line Adochi Dewyed. They have admirers. If needed, cite their names to gain trust, respect, and most importantly allies."

The Wolven's lip curls instinctively as she begins to lose herself in the trance. She knows full well that, in her old age, she cannot hold this much longer. She knows equally well that this information may be the key to Terole's continued existance.

"Listen well, black beauty. Times as they have been are failing. Terole will be changed by this war. If she survives, a new order will be established. Even now, things fail. Devan trains an apprentice. Gutadrae arrives. Akartis continues his mother's Line through you. I will soon be replaced."

The Wolven grips her knees tightly, dull black claws digging into weathered fur and hide. But this last bit of info is the most important of all. Light shine on me... just a little... longer...

"Ayrist, my child. You carry within you four cubs. They are the union of two great powers - Ana and Redwood. You could have no stronger force together. Raise them well... for you and Akartis... may be Terole's last hope..."

The Wolven sways, eyes tightly shut, but continues speaking. Her voice seems to fade a little, become more distant.

"Redwood... will never give up... she... may not make it through this war. Do not let her die, youngling. You cannot fight, for you are too precious to risk... do not let Redwood's life end. I sense many Koratian deaths soon... the Drakka target the best of the best... warriors first, and then civilians..."

Back, darkness!

"They can be defeated... if Terole unites. If... Terole... fails... then all is lost."

Exhausted by the work taken to get this precious knowledge, the librarian swoons, and lets herself fall into the warm blackness of the next world. I have served my planet well...
