According to the State of the Network (below), the maintenance is being done one world at a time rather than across all servers at once...

This is the latest installment of a frequently updated series of reports on the “State of the Network" for Asheron's Call. In this report, we keep players informed as to the state of some of the more technical aspects of AC, particularly the status of the servers for the various worlds, as well as to inform players of scheduled maintenance downtime.


Upcoming Server Downtimes:
UPDATE: Lag/Packet Loss Issues, August 16th
We continue to work on this issue. We will be doing some server work in the next 12 hours that we believe should improve the situation. We hope that this will not require downtime to implement. However, it is possible that it may. If it turns out that we need downtime to finish this maintenance, we will be sure to inform all players. If you experience the type of lag listed below, please be sure to file an urgent assistance call so we can obtain more information about your type of connection.

We are aware of the current increase in lag and packet loss in the game. With this month's update, we introduced some network optimizations to improve the overall playing experience for all players. Unfortunately, with these types of changes there is always a risk of some of them not working as planned. Some of the symptoms you will notice is that suddenly you may not be able to move, but everyone and everything else around you is moving. Additionally, you are able to talk to other players. It is advised that you avoid these high-risk lag situations by logging out briefly when they strike. We are committed to working through this problem as swiftly as possible, with the end result being an improved playing experience for all.
