I can tell you from recent experience, O'Reilly Auto Parts has five different listings for transmission filter kits (gasket included) for the first gen D. Look at the pan and draw a picture of the pan shape, bolt location and number of bolts. Then find the kit that matches. I used "Permatex Form A Gasket sealant #2". It's a non-hardening sealant. Once the pan and mating transmission surfaces have been cleaned, put a bead on the pan and place the gasket on the pan. Now put an additional bead on the gasket surface that will contact the tranny housing. Position pan and start installing your bolts. Don't start to really tighten the bolts until you have all of them in. Tighten them by using a criss-cross pattern. Snug them down,... don't put a Gorilla torque on them or you'll crush your gasket and squeeze all the sealant out. Once they're tight to your satisfaction, you're ready to fill, check and top-off. (check and quantity are addressed in a couple of my other posts)
I am at a loss by what you mean by the oil container on top of the engine,... valve cover maybe? Gasket replacement for the forward one should be no problem and similar to replacing the tranny gasket. The one back by the firewall is gonna be a booger and I'd consider a professional.

Hope this helped...
