The engines are virtually identicle. Cam profiles are different, as well as some electronics. There is a 20hp difference in D LS and Stealth/3000GT non-turbo. That difference is made up mostly due to cam, exhaust, and compression ratio. The engines CAN be swapped with little trouble. Any problems run into during a swap would be attributed to the wiring harness differences. 3000GTs have some stuff D's dont and viseversa.
