I can understand where chris is coming from, the Diamante, isnt really in the same class of car as an M3, M5 or 740IL. A better BMW comparison would be say, 318i or a 325. Although most of Harry's modifcations (from what I have figured) are mostly cosmetic. (feel free to correct me if im wrong) I do agree with Harry though, after driving my dad's 94 XJ6, I find the Diamante rather, well...unispiring. I dont think the slowdown for the D is really in lack of HP or Tourque, mainly the transmission. I take my families 2001 Buick Century (granted its an umarked police car, but it has no mechanical changes from stock) out sometimes, and I find its is actually more responsive under hard throttle, even though it posesses less HP (but slightly more Tourque). Again I drove my friend Gary's 92 Nissan Maxima GXE, and found that even though the 0-60 times for the maxima are slower than my D, 10.5 vs. 9.3, because of the trans setup (its a 4-spd auto), I get more response from the car when I stomp on the gas. I have read many reviews, claming the transmission is rather screwy on the D, and Im inclined to agree.
