AMEN!
You must think of it this way. Compare our cars to a LEXUS ES model or and acura 4dr legend and look at repair details and parts cost.

The reasons LEXUS and Acuras(using these two companies as an example) last longer is because the owners take their cars in for EVERY last problem and usually have EVERY last bit of dealer required maintenance done. That and the fact that the mechanics that work on these cars go through a more rigorous training program and are constantly monitored for quality control. I've seen abused Lexus,Acura,Hondas, ect... that don't live up to their name because their owners don't know flip about maintenance.

NOW... Think of a mitsubishi diamante.... People presume it's like any other mitsubishi and treat it as such. They don't follow through with required maintenance until it's too late, the car is usually beaten to death and touched by different shops all the time. On top of that, most of the mechanics that are put on our cars to repair are no where NEAR as knowledgable as the people that are working on cars in the same category.

Anyone can say any car is a POS, but I can honestly say I'm quite impressed with the reliability of this car. With half-ass maintenance, I've seen these do $200K plus on stock shortblock and tranny.

Also, remember this, Our shortblocks (1st gen D's) were put in ALOT of cars (caravan, stealth, 3000gt, Sebring, Daytona, amongst others)so parts are readily available for repair if one knows where to look. Anyway, I never thought I'd be driving an import, but I'm pleased with the one I have and it's not very difficult to repair.
(93 Diamante ~144k and still strong!)

I probably wouldn't buy another one... BUT I don't find myself selling this one anytime soon either.
