Subject: DOHC owners and good news

I was at my old mitsu dealership the other day and I was talking to a tech there that wanted to know what happened to the tt engine I was going to put in my other D. I told him about the about the expense in changing over ems and harnesses. This guy has a talon 4wd with hks all over it,....He ran into a guy with a 1st gen wagon, who put a vr4 engine block right into the engine bay and bolted it to the auto tranny, fit like a glove. The EMS box just pluged right in, didnt need to be changed, and neither did the tranny because he left the stock tranny harness in place. One draw back was he has gone thru 3 trannys and now since he has had it rebuilt completely, he hasnt had a problem.

Now for the good news. 1st gen owners can buy Eibach springs for the 3000gt sl and lower your car 2.25 to 2.5 inches. The do fit, and the tech recommends it, but beware of your rim size and tire size. 7.5 and 8.0 rim will not rub this low, but shocks must be changed also. Sprung weight will cause the suspension to expand and contract, causing a rub, if the tire is not the right size. I value hard conrnering in my car, and I have a 8.0 inch rim, so I dont need to go this low, I have 1.75 inches drop and .75 inches of clearance, that gives me room to hit the G's in cornering. Go for it if you want it.

BTW Where is this guy Robert, I'd like to talk to him
