hey here is what a guy told me on this forum sometime ago and it worked im rolling on 18s now anything else let me know randy
I can tell you to go with, because of possible lowering problems without camber adjustment. I had previously 18 x 9 wheels that didnt rub because I went down on tire size.

Offset is important, so have the company or person you buy your wheels and tires from look you car up.

I am running 19 x 8 right now and they dont rub with the 1.75 drop. Note: the right front will rub on hard left anyway, because of the fact that the tranny locker protrudes out slightly inside the fender liner, it is a very hard left mind you. To remedy rubing on the right side, you must get some tie wire and loop it thru one of the holes in the fender liner and tie it up, or it will eat the front of it away, and if you find out your rubbing from hard lefts, you will see it on bottom of the inner fender well, behind the wheel.

20's will fit a first gen D, I only went 19 because I didnt want problems with suspension performance.

As for tires:

On a 18", you want to run 235/40 or 225/40 if you want to buy tires every 6 months. As heavy as a D is you will eat them up about that time. 235 fit nicely, and leaves you room without rubbing at all.
