Subject: Transmission Not Shifting

'92 es:

when i put it in A/T mode and floor it the tranny wont shift into 2nd gear, it just keeps increasing in RPM's. it just started about a week ago when i noticed that the engine was wailing like i had never heard before, only to look at the tach and realize i was spining 6600 RPMS (redline = 6000rpm's). i almost shit a brick. pulled over immediately and checked to make sure everythig was still intact.

but it still does the same thing. i only drive in A/T mode b/c i hate flooring it and not getting the immediate power that A/T mode delivers. so i have to let my foot off the gas for it to shift into second. Note, it shifts into all gears just fine under regular driving conditions. it only screws up under hard acceleration.

a buddy of mine suggested that the ECU (or whatever it is that controls the shifting) is screwed up and i need a new one. any suggetions?
