It sounds like it is a seal. when I got my car, I found that my taillight seal was leaking. my suggestion is to take off the panels and climb into the trunk with a flashlight. Have a friend you trust(or that you know will let you out) spray the car with a hose. this way, you know where the water is coming from. OR, instead of taking the panels off right away, you could just open the flap that you open to change your taillight bulbs and see if that's the culpret first, then go from there.
