The idle speed control motor seems to be a common problem with D's. That's probably your best bet, however some shops don't think to check those out. I know when mine went bad, the car would have three kinds of days: it would run fine, it would always stall, or it would idle really fast. Eventually the timing belt skipped a few teeth when it was idling fast and I had to change six of my valves.
