Subject: Need some help guys

I wanted to disconnect my battery for a few minutes as to reset my computer, being I just installed a replacement panel air filter. I stopped my myself short however, remembering some talk about people having problems with security codes on their radios once power was cut off to the unit.

I bought the car used about a year ago now, and had never thought to look for the "cards" with the code until now. Of course, my luck, I dont have them. And I have lost track of the guy who sold me the car. Something tells me he didn't have them either.

I called a local dealership, they want 80 to take out the radio. I proposed I take out the radio. The guy said 10 bucks. So I called Mitsubishi directly, seeing if i could save myself the time of pulling out the stereo, and they said there is no other way around getting the code.

My questions are, IS there another way? If not, how can I go about taking this stereo out? I have a 1997 ES. I popped out the center console plate around the shifter, and can't seem to find where to go from there.

BUT, after I popped off that panel, I saw a sticker inside, under the ashtray and to the left labelled "MITSUBISHI ELECTRONIC CORP" or something to that effect. Underneath is a serial number, and under THAT is a 4 digit number. Could this be the code I am looking for?

I need some help fellas.

Thanks.
