I had this problem. I took it to a shop and had them use a flush machine. They put in BG 44k additive (teflon treatment) It shifts much better. I have 55k on my 98d and it helps. It cost me almost 200. The expense comes in with Mitsubishi tranny fluid. look at your owners manual for that actual description. I think they called it Diamonad ATF type 2. It was pricy crap but it was designed for the car.
