yeah, mine quieted down also with maxlife. I also chose 40 weight oil for my '92 ls. About valvoline though, I like their oil, but stick to changin it yourself. I changed it myself for a year, but took it in two weeks ago cause I thought the ball joints needed lubed (turns out they're sealed, and never need lubed). anyway, I checked my oil level today, and found out that they put half a quart of oil over the full line! I took it back and had them drain it, and they acted like it was no big deal! I read an article a while back, and found out that this mistake is made a lot, and if you overfill too much your crank can whip it into foam, then your car can't pump it.
