Subject: A lupine creature enters.

Species' Name: Kysar, plural is kysari
Home World: They originate from a planet much like Earth but harsher and colder, much of the terrain being tundra. The kysari call the planet Thrilim, their word for 'heart'.
Appearance: Similar in appearance to gryphons but deadly enemies of them, kysari can best be described as wolves with enlarged heads of hawks and wings of them at the shoulders. Their coloration is either lupine or that of a hawk- they can be brown, auburn, black, grey, speckled, and there are many variations in appearance.
Size: Slightly larger than the average wolf, they tend to be lighter and slimmer, with hollow bones to aid flying and extremely powerful shoulder muscles to flap their large wings.
Behavior: There are two main subsets of the kysar species, known as the elti and the sufni and their behavior is quite different.
-Elti: The elti live like wolves, in packs of a male and female dominant kysar and the rest being their young. They hunt in these groups and have complex and highly ritualized social interactions. At birth, an elti is given a one-syllable name, such as Ka. At the time of their First Hunt and initiation into the pack, another syllable is added, making Ka into Kasi. When they are fully physically mature and enter the adult kysar world, they receive another syllable in a ritual that would make Kasi into Kanasi. Should Kanasi find a mate, he would exchange first syllables with his mate. If her name is Rizane, it would become Rikazane and his would become Karinasi. Thus the names expand throughout the elti's life and much can be learned about the kysar merely from her name. There are many other such social delicacies within their daily life.
-Sufni: The sufni live in a drastically different world. They tend to be found in areas where hunting is more difficult and prey is larger and/or moves in large groups, such as in lowlands or savannahs, whereas the elti are found in mountains, forests and such. Sufni society is entirely male-dominated. An adult male makes his way in the world by acquiring females for something of a harem. When he is kicked out of his tark (the group they live in) he must go and capture one of the newly-iniated females from another tark by challenging his father for her. If the young male fails, he is usually killed or fatally wounded because of the potency of the available natural weaponry of an experienced kysar male. If he succeeds, he may choose either to capture more by violence or to woo some females who have struck out on their own. He must jealously guard his tark if he wishes to keep it, and keep them safe. As in lion society, it is the females who do the hunting. If a male does not wish to leave his father's tark, he may choose to challenge his father to a fight to the death. If he succeeds, he banishes his mother from the group and claims the rest of the females as his own. Females are generally submissive by nature and obedient to the males, but occasionally a female will strike out entirely on her own. These are called hysons and often form independant all-female groups called hytarks for no discernable reason. These hytarks are highly hostile to all other tarks and hytarks alike, and usually consist of excellent fighters and hunters. Little is known about them but ambitious males occasionally try to capture a hyson and more often than not wind up dead.
Lifespan: Up to 45 years on average, the oldest recorded being 53.

Personality: Friendly, rambunctious, curious and rebellious, he does have something of a cruel streak. Like many young males everywhere, he is unpredictable.
