Subject: Your favourite games of Yesterday!

Well, considering all the talk of past FF's, and breif chats about the old Atari systems and such, I thought it might be a good idea to ask the following question:

Today's games might be great, but what are some of the old favourites you still play?

Mine?

"Flashback": This was the first game I ever played that made my eyes pop out of my head. The animation, even as pixelated as it was back then, was incredibly smooth. Well-done characters seamlessly traversed the alien landscapes and flashy cartoony cinematics came into play. The pinnacle of this game was watching the Hero take out his gun for the first time, hold it beside his head, then in one fluid motion, drop down to the next level, blast an armed guard 5 feet backwards, then roll forwards, flick around and nail the guy behind him. it nearly made me cry, the smoothness and accuracy of the movements. I played it just yesterday on my old 486. Still a rocking game! It's only flaw was the lack of convenient saving techniques.

"Alex Kidd in Miracle World": Just recently I fixed my once-thought-dead Sega Master System II, and tapped keys, controlling the large-headed Alex. It was as I remembered it, a locking scrolling screen and slow moving opponents who are usually easily disabled by that enormous fist of his. Still, a great game to play!

"One Must Fall 2097": Not so much an oldie as the others, but one of notable respect. A veteran of the highest order in this game, I whipped out my copy at the last LAN, and thrashed my opponents with multiple, neck-snapping combos. There's nothing quite like the feel of backdropping your opponent, leaping in the air and catching him from his initial bounce, then flipping end over end and hurling him to the other side of the arena. Ahhh... Such fond memories.

Finally... (because I'm late for an errand.)

"Worms Plus": All praises to those genocidal little earthworms and their love for mass destruction. My brother Ben and I still indulge in a game of this every time I bring my PC home. Cluster Bombs are great, especially when your opponents are trapped below you in a crate caused by that stick of dynamite you dropped on his head before. And how you saved all your homing missiles for the "end-of-round" long-distance targetting. What great worms to know.

Anyhoo, must dash!

:)
