Subject: A few questions about FF7.

Let me get this clear, Vincent is probably my least favourite character. Why? I have theories, but there's not really enough time to say those. Anyway, saying Vincent is my least favourite character in FF7 is like saying Brown is my least favourite colour M&M.

Anyway, the point of ths post was to get some opinions on the character Vincent's past. I've heard many, many opinions, usually from the Silence MB, guys who are particularly adept at worshipping Vincent, so I'd like you guys' opinions because, frankly, you guy seem to have the best opinions.

1. Did Vincent ask Lucrecia to marry him?

The way they had their hands together looked so "Honey, I have something important I want to ask you." I can honestly, say that if he wasn't proposing, he'd been thinking about it. It would also account for the shocked reaction of Lucrecia. Perhaps her perfect little world had just been thrown out of whack.

2. Why did Hojo really shoot Vincent?

That I can't say. Hojo may have just been stressed out, and the news of Lucrecia's illness/death had been too much for him. Who better to take his anger out on than the object of his jealousy and hatred? Hojo always seemed like a man who did things impulsively when science wasn't an issue.

3. Vincent or Hojo; Who is Sephiroth's real Father?

As much as the likenesses between Vincent and Sephiroth are, and as cruel as Hojo was to the child throughout his early life, I still think of Hojo as Sephiroth's father. I can easily see why people could accept the opposite, though. Phsycially, they are both very similar. Vincent also expresses deafening hints that Hojo's parenthood may not have been legible, and considering Hojo shot him, that may have been the reason. But a psychotic, syringe-wielding man with Jenova for blood seems the logical father of such a physically twisted boy.

4. Thoughts on why Hojo created Vincent as he did.

Well, either Hojo watched too many crappy horror movies in his spare time, or he did it because he was aware of Vincent's impending nightmares, and decided to put a little twist of irony into it, by making Vincent the clichéd nightmare.

5. In a word, how would you sum up Vincent?

Nowhere.

And now, for some general questions, because noone likes to stick on one topic of conversation all the time... unless that topic is "I'm going to give you lots of money for every minute you talk about this topic." which I would gladly talk about for ages. I'm sure you all would, too. ;)

6. Which characters' eyes in FF7 do you like the best?

Well, it's a tie between Cloud's and Tifa's. Cloud's Mako blue eyes are wicked, but gentle wine-coloured eyes are beautiful too. I'd probably pick Cloud's though, much cooler.

7. If you personally had to use one of the main characters' weapons, which do you think you'd be most inclined to use?

To be honest, I'd choose Cloud's Murasame. I've always felt more apt for Katana-like swordplay than anything else. Barrets gun-arm is great, but I'd miss the dexterity of my left arm. Tifa's martial arts and gloves are a close second, but I prefer something a little more lethal.

8. The end of the game - People, dead or alive?

Well, as you know, there is the sound of children laughing in the darkening close sequence of the game. A tree-covered Midgar rots in the background. Ghosts of children? Maybe... But I guess I'm an optimist because I'll choose the happy ending. ;)

9. What's your favourite place to visit in FF7?

Definately Midgar. In fact, I was disappointed that you never got to traverse all the sectors above and below the plate. I'd have loved to go to Sector 3 and seen what was there, and minced around the parks above the plate in Sector 1. There was so much to do in Midgar, and it was always so busy and exciting.

10. If there's one line in FF7 that really pulls a heartstring for you, what is it?

I don't remember the line exactly, but when Cloud has told everyone to go home and think what they were fighting for, Tifa and Cloud were left on the Highwind. I'd almost forgotten about both their plights, then Tifa said, "Don't you remember? I don't have any place to go." It was something like that. I just feel so sorry for the two of them. No family, no home, and the only reasons to stay and fight seem to be for revenge and for each other. A close second is when Cait Sith is about to get the Black Materia from the temple. There he is, going on about what a hero he will be and how happy he is that he can fially help, then he trips and falls. I don't know why, but I always feel so sad for him. It's like he realizes just what a small and fragile thing he is, not some powerful world-saving hero. Just a robotic cat on a stuffed moogle doing something brave.

11. Does a remote-controlled cat using a remote-controlled moogle seem criminally inefficient to anyone else?

Indeed, the inaccuracy of two chains of remot-controlling is ludicrous. One slip-up by the acual controller, and the cat would stuff up tremendously, probably reenacting a scene from A Midsummer Nights Dream or something. Reeve must have been great at R/C races. ;)

12. Did you like the Turks?

Yeah. I liked their professional, but humane attitude. I always felt as though there was a real sense of comradery between them and AVALANCHE. Even though I did for the experience, I almost didn't fight them in the tunnels before Hojo the first time I played.

13. What was your favourite part of the game?

It's probably no suprise to anyone that the Lifestream bit with Cloud and Tifa is my favourite. The way I glued myself to the screen the first time I ever saw that bit was amazing. Who knew Cloud would have actually been there at the reactor that day, and why he'd gone to Soldier and stuff. I've yet to see a sequence in any game/movie that's done as well. Of course, I'm not expecting to.

Anyway, that's all for now. I just felt like blurting out mindless FF ramble. Hope you can cope with it.

:)
