Subject: The Devils May Care: Prologue

Greetings. I, your humble bard, bring tales of the soon-to-be-legendary exploits of the Warriors Z.

It was not many moons ago when an evil scourge did infect our lands will its malicious touch. Were it not for the bravery of a single nameless warrior, the very ground we now stand on may have fallen prey to the demonic regions of the netherplanes. With a fell swoop of his mighty weapon, the warrior cleaved the dark lord Diablo in twain. There was much rejoicing throughout the land. Many sought to reward the wanderer, but he vanished without a trace before the night was through.

Now tales of villany and evil have reached this humble bard's ears: An encampment of the Noble Sisters of the Sightless Eye has become besieged by an unknown source of evil. With much haste, I traversed the backwoods and mountains towards this poor shantytown. I slept little and ate less as the foul creatures bit at my travelling heels.

I arrived in the encampment to find it nearly deserted. The once proud ranks of the Sisters had shrunk to but a handful. Their arrogant eyes of pride do now betray a flickering of doubt. A hint of fear. A trace of sadness. They look to the horizon seeking some answer to their plight... or maybe they seek the bearer of their deaths.

I was in their fort but a single night when a flury of cheers arose from the edge of the barracks. Murmurs whispered of great warriors who had arrived the previous morn. Rumours flew of those who had bested the undead vixen Blood Raven and cleansed the Den of Evil of its inhabitants in but a single night. I ran to the gates to see these heroes arrive with mine own eyes.

I expected an army of giant-kin Barbarians cloaked in the armor of great beasts. Much to mine surprise, these heroes numbered but three normal-sized people.

In they wearily strode, these myths amongst men. The first to appear was he who they called Achilles the Roman. I judge him to be a Paladin of an early rank. He still shows signs of greenness to him, but the notches in his blade prove his potential.

The second was a mere lass wrapped in the robes of a Sorceress. It has been long since I heard the name of the exiled battlemage Tashi, but yet the people near me were whispering it in a hushed awe.

At that point, my view was abruptly blocked by an ungracious whelp calling himself "Blender Smurf". I backhanded the fool and watched as he went flying across the courtyard.

I turned back just in time to see the third of the great saviors stroll in. She appeared as a goddess sent from on high. Clad in leather and sporting long, long legs, the Amazon was a sight of both beauty and power wrapped in one.

There was a tap on my shoulder and I turned around just in time to see "Blender Smurf" hit me in the face with a frying pan. My body limply flew a short distance and landed at the feet of the Amazonian vision. I blankly smiled up into the blurry face and said "Please, but tell me your name."

My goddess smiled and in a very deep voice said "Faucetta".

As my consciousness faded, I was left with the thought that my lovely Amazon maiden would be even lovelier if she could just cure herself of that nasty 5 o'clock shadow on her face.

So writeth
The Nameless Bard

Tee-hee. Much fun was had in the land of Diablo II.
