Originally, we had several other people coming to Anime Expo (AX) with us.

The story goes like this: My roommate Kristin met up with a bunch of girls from Arizona towards the end of last year at a local anime store here in Los Angeles. They chatted and exchanged e-mail addresses. Over the course of a few months, the girls decided that they were coming back for AX and wanted to cosplay. My roommate talked both Haze and myself into doing a big group costume set. Slayers was chosen because of it's predominantly large female cast and the fact that the guys actually have interesting costumes.

We each were assigned characters. Haze and I were easily thrown into the Zelgadis and Gourry characters (due to Haze volunteering for Zel and... well, face it: I have the clueless Gourry thing down to a fine art ^_^). The Arizona girls snapped up Lina, Amelia and uh... the dragon woman who's name escapes me at the moment. As Kristin didn't want to crossplay, she took Sylphiel and set about making the costumes for our end of the group.

Flash forward to about the middle of June. Kristin had our costumes finished and was working on our Digimon ones (TK and Kari). She contacted the Arizona girls. One of them couldn't come because she was going on a vacation with her mother the weekend of AX. The other two backed out due to 'money problems' (or so that was the excuse we got). As such, we were missing half our cast, but decided to go to the con in those costumes anyway.

We did manage to meet up with a few people playing other Slayers' characters at AX and take pictures, but for the most part we wandered the convention with just the three of us.

Incidentally, I had more people ask to take a picture of me in the TK costume than in the Gourry costume. Bog.
