Subject: Le jour apres...

It's been one day since I arrived back from Paris. Crying shame, really. I love that city. Now that I'm back, I thought I'd give you all some nice info about Paris, life, and myself. Yes, it's RAMBLING TIME!!!!

1) I FINALLY got off my lazy ass and took the 45-minute metro ride to Montmartre (Before I found out there's another route that only takes half an hour). It's very nice, you should go if you're in Paris one day. Yes, tons of tourists, but nevertheless, it's quiet qnd peaceful. It's a quaint little village, just my kind of place. Just splendid.

2) So you don't lose any sleep over it, no, they did not let me into the strip clubs.

3) Another thing - Montmartre is EXPENSIVE - if you plan to eat or go to a nightclub there, bring A LOT, and I mean, A LOT of money. I'm talking RIDICULOUS amounts of money. And careful - if you get pickpocketed, tsk tsk... Just a little warning.

4)Transport - the best way to see Paris is using your own two legs to get around it. Trust me. If you're in a hurry or just can't walk anymore, don't let the cabbies rip you off - take the Metro, or the Bus, like real Parisians do. But which one? I shall list the pros and cons of each.

5) METRO - Pros: Quick and efficient. Can quickly land you in walking distance of your destination. Traffic won't stop the Metro. Buskers are at large there, so if you see one, enjoy their music, and tip them for enhancing your Metro trip. Cons: Very dirty in those tunnels. And the Metro is unpredictable - if you take the Metro, you basically depend on the drivers to get the train to your station quickly. And a lot of times, they don't.

6)BUS - Pros: It's very nice to sit on a bus and look out the window, onto the streets and just relax. The bus is also the only public transport running after midnight. Busses are also much more convenient for arriving at closer destinations. Cons: Main point - avoid Rush Hour at ALL COSTS. If you get stuck on a bus during rush hour, too bad for you. You could walk to your destination quicker than riding a bus during rush hour. It gets VERY stuffy inside during hot, humid summer days.

7) Both - Important: WATCH OUT FOR PICKPOCKETS

8) Good things to see in Paris:
-The Eiffel Tower
-Notre Dame
-The Louvre
-Musee d'Orsay
-Musee de l'Armee
-Musee du Rodin
-Hotel des Invalides
-Cite des Sciences
-Champs-Elysees
-Montmartre

9) Good places to eat in Paris:
-Restaurant Kalimnos, Montparnasse
-Leon de Bruxelles, Bastille/Montparnasse
-Pizza Girl, Montparnasse

10) And a great cybercafe in Paris:
-LOL Interactive, Montparnasse (Metro Station: Vavin) Right next to the Best Western.

11) And one thing I must make clear - The French ain't rude. Many speak English, just ask - and if you at least try to speak French, they'll help you out. They're politer than most Americans, and much more cultured as well.

12) If you plan on flying to France, fly Air France - they have the best service, and if something inconveniences you, like long delays, they make up for it. For example, the flight back was delayed, and they gave us this French meal that included bread, pate, and even a small bottle of red wine :-)

I'll sign off for now - I'm in Florida, and Tropical Storm Berry, soon-to-be Hurricane Berry, is headed our way. Fun!
