Schala and Kid are not the same person .... well, not exactly. Kid is what the game refers to as Schala's "daughter-clone" (long story, contains even more spoilers). However, it seems (you'll note I say SEEMS) to be implied that they merge together at the end, but I could well be wrong about this, because it wasn't entirely clear. In any case, for the duration of the actual game-play, they are different people.

I do not think Guile is Magus / Janus, although there are certainly some similarites (floating when you press the button to run, black element being similar to shadow magic). It is implied that Magus IS alive at the time of Chrono Cross, but there is no evidence to support the idea that he is Guile. Besides, the similarities end when it comes to personality. An interesting question would be HOW Magus could be alive in Chrono Cross, since at the end of Chrono Trigger it seems that he returns to 12,000 B.C. Is he immortal? Did he find another way to time-travel?

However, there was an Satellaview-only sequel to Chrono Trigger called Radical Dreamers (crappy name), in which there appeared a character named Gil, who Guile may have been based on. Chrono Cross is somewhat based on this game too, though not entirely. At the end of Radical Dreamers, it is revealed that Gil is actually Magus, who has been searching for Schala. So it IS possible that Guile and Magus are the same person. However, having played through the game twice and payed careful attention to that matter in particular, I just can't see enough evidence to support that idea.

What I DO think though is that they are related, albeit distanty. There are too many similarities. My guess is that Guile is a descendant of the Zeal family.

And yes, Leena looks ridiculous fighting with kitchenware, but not half as ridiculous as Poshul (shudders). I swear, some of the characters in the game are so awful they almost make me miss Cait Sith. Almost.

Oh, and thanks for the spelling correction. :-)
