Subject: Z-files Phase 2 Unleashed

Hi all. Time for Phase 2: a recap.

If you didn't know, I now own the z-files.org domain name. I have around 70 mbs of server space to play with as well as several e-mail addresses to distribute. The site (name and server) will be mine for at least the next year and is supposed to be up 99.7% of the time guaranteed (or so the service tells me). All of the files for the Z-files site have been transferred over to the http://www.z-files.org and a link has been set-up on the old site ("All your Z-files are belong to us!").

The mail server took a little bit of doing to understand, but I can now issue e-mails addresses and e-mail forwarding aliases (the latter of which will only come into play if we exceed the given number of e-mail addresses, which shouldn't happen if my active hand count thread is to be believed). The server is a little funky in that to send your mail through the z-files.org mailer, you must input your password (this blocks most spam mailers from using our server to e-mail their crap through). Also, only I (as admin) can set passwords for your e-mail accounts.

So here's what I need you to do if you want a nifty z-files.org address: You must e-mail me at aaron@z-files.org with the name you want for your e-mail, the password you would like and which client you use to access your e-mail (Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Messenger). Try to keep your e-mail name request as close to your z-files character name as possible. Standard password rules apply (aka must be 6-16 letters/digits, etc.). I'll send a link to the setup for your e-mail client (whether it be Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Messenger) with your confirmation info.

PLEASE NOTE: My contract with the server also states that I must warn you guys against using the mail account for illegal purposes (spam, harassing people, sending porn, etc.) and that I'll be forced to revoke your account should it be discovered that you have engaged in such practices (but knowing you guys, I doubt there will ever be a need to enforce this).

Oh, if I find out you're impersonating another member of the group, all your privileges will be revoked. :-P

Hrm. What else? I also supposedly have a cgi-bin now. That means should we ever be forced to move the message board again, I can technically set one up through the server (minus the banner ads) and host it off the z-files.org site. I think there are other applications I could use with the bin, but I don't know what they are (counter maybe?).

Umm... I think that's it. Questions? Comments? Etc.?

Sorry this whole thing is taking so long (and sorry I haven't responded to your e-mail yet Ark!). I've sort of been preoccupied by my programming homework and prepping for my mid-terms (stupid college extension courses taking up my free-time!). :-(

- Aaron (has a headache)
