If only I could... if only I could...

I miss those days of mountain biking in Vermont. Unfortunately, Los Angeles is not very conducive to biking. I live approximately 8 miles from where I work. On the surface, that might sound like no problem, but that's 8 miles via Freeway (wherein they don't allow bicycles or pedestrians). If I had to take the surface streets, it'd be much further. If I want to visit my friends over in the Valley (I live on the west side of Los Angeles; most of my friends live in the valley which is on the northeast side), it's 20+ miles plus via Freeway (don't know how far by surface streets).

You also have to remember that I live on the edge of the desert, so summer temperatures probably won't let me reach the building without a healthy coating of sweat. :-(

I think I'm stuck getting a new car. If only L.A. had a decent transportation system... ah well...
