Subject: "What the?" (brought to you by the letter "N")

As was overtly hinted at in an old ITW post, I submitted a resume to Nintendo for the position of "Localization Editor/Writer" (ie person responsible for making sure the English game text was easy to read, unlike games such as "Legend of Dragoon" and "Zero Wing"... "All your base are belong to us" damnit! ^_^). Imagine my surprise when I checked my mailbox on Saturday and found a legal sized envelope from Nintendo.

At this point, my brain immediately thinks "Oh good. Another one of those standard 'We've received your resume and tossed it into the trashbin labeled "files"' letters." I open up the envelope and what should appear before my wondering eyes?

A small sheet of Pokemon stickers. No Pikachu.

I stand there doing the "I can't believe what I'm seeing" eye blinking thing you see in most animes. Even though the envelope was now empty, I turned it upsidedown and shook it several times just to make sure there wasn't anything else stuck in it.

I'd like to say that this was a joke on Nintendo's part wherein the receiver of my resume thought "Awwww... How cute!" and responded accordingly... but most likely it's just my free "gift" for subscribing to "Nintendo Power" through my cousin's Girl Scout magazine subscription drive. Sigh. And I was hoping for a copy of "Zelda: Majora's Mask"!

- Aaron (is now headed home for the evening)
