Subject: I'm hoping I haven't killed my new PC...

Just yesterday, while at home with a terrible flu, ie. one that I was so sick I had ot stay home from course, but not sick enough to stop me going out and loitering around PC stores. Anyway, while doing this, I made up my mind and purchased the following:

1x Intel Pentium III 800EB CPU
1x Gigabyte Motherboard (With lots of numbers after the title which I couldn't remember.)
1x Century 256Mb PC133/100 RAM

So, I went home pleased with myself. Kevin was home, as I had hoped, and we soon got onto the gruelling task of removing every single part of my old computer to slot in the newer one. After some time and a few caramel milkshakes and bacon & egg pies, we succeeded. I was rapt. Not only did this new upgrade solve my problems of not having enough PCI slots available, but it also saved me the hassle of having to buy USB ports for my webcamera. So, I played with it most of the night and marvelled at how brilliantly fast it was in Unreal Tournament and loading up IE5. :)

I went to connect to the Internet, though, and there was a problem. Apparently, the PC couldn't find a connection to the phone-line, which I thought was strange because I had made sure the plugs were all in fast. So I figured it was a problem with the PCI modem being not pushed in hard enough, so I took off the side of the case and gave it a jerk around a bit, and slipped it back on. The PC loaded up and I went to connect again. Suddenly, my modem made a strange noise and my PC went dead, without warning. I figured it was just a small problem, but found that the PC wouldn't turn off when I pressed the power button. It would, however reset, but not load anything up. I turned the case's power off and scratched my head. I left it for a while, then took off the side and started it up again. The PC turned turned on when I turned the case's power on, something that's never happened before. I looked in the side and observed that the CPU fan wasn't spinning, and none of the other cards or peripherals were running except the CD-ROM. I turned it off and left it.

So, does anyone know what has happened to my poor PC?
My theories are:

A. While throwing it around trying to get the modem in properly I have bumped some of the plugs and chords, making the hardware do crazy things. (Such as not allowing the power button to work.)

B. The CPU fan never spun, therefore the CPU overheated and destroyed itself, making the hardware to crazy things.

C. Aliens came down and zapped my PC with a malfunction-gun while I wasn't looking, making my hardware do crazy things.

HELP!!!!

*sob*

:)
