Hello All,

I'm pleased to announce that our organization, Fund for Investigative Reporting and Editing (FIRE), has received funding from the Community Foundation of WNC and from the New Leaf Fund to hold "Nonprofits Online" workshops for nonprofits in the region.

The training will be offered free of charge to nonprofit organizations’ staff members and active volunteers. The Nonprofits Online training will help teach organizations’ staff and volunteers to use the full extent of computer and Internet resources that are available to them. Topics will include where to get immediate answers to critical problems; where to find information that leads to funding and equipment donations; ways to share ideas and challenges with similar organizations in other parts of the country; and how to access vast databases that illustrate the need for programs.

The first workshop is scheduled for August 22 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the downstairs computer lab at Pack Memorial Library at 67 Haywood Street in downtown Asheville. Other workshops are currently being scheduled in Cullowhee, Spruce Pine and Waynesville, and funds are available to offer the workshop in other western NC locations where there is sufficient interest.
