For what it is worth, it has now been almost six days since kindling (birth) and I have never seen the mother (doe) rabbit in with her babies. Nevertheless, they are still all alive, roly-poly and plump. So, by default, I guess the answer is that they have not been abandoned. There are two things for which I am grateful: (1) the nice article provided by my veterinarian regarding the missinterpretation that wild baby rabbits have been abandoned when in fact they have not and (2) that my rabbit was tolerant of my interference shortly after the birth of her babies.

Phew!
