I doubt that the baby rabbits were abandoned by the mother. Does only feed their babies twice a day--usually at dusk and again at dawn. She doesn't go near the nest the rest of the day so as not to attract predators to where her babies are. If you find a rabbits nest, it is best to replace their covering (if you have removed it) and then leave the babies alone. In about two to three weeks, they will have left the nest. The web site for the House Rabbit Society (www.rabbit.org) has more info on finding wild baby rabbits.
